Making It Easier for the Disabled to Fly

Major airlines and smaller ones as well are being asked by the Federal Transportation Department to create websites and airport kiosks more accessible for the disabled.

A recently established proposal was put in place following years of complaints by travelers with disabilities who claimed to be experiencing difficulties getting tickets for flights.

Airlines and travel agents in the past resisted this kind of proposal because of the cost and complexity of the changes – all of which have been made less expensive and less complex by technological advances.
