February school break is expected to be a very busy time at Logan Airport.

Airlines have advised Massport that load factors could reach one-hundred percent on both arrivals and departures.

Additional staffing will be put in place at the airport for customer service, convenience, public safety and security.

“This year’s school break comes at a good time,” said General Manager Jack Hemphill said.  “Massport has just opened a 3,000 space Economy Parking Garage near the T-Station on Service Road.

“In addition, Massport has relocated its popular and well-used Cell Phone Parking Lot next to the Gulf Gas Station,” Hemphill said.

“Motorist can park in the lot for 30 minutes while waiting for arriving passengers and not have to continuously drive around the airport, saving time, fuel and prevent vehicle emissions”, he said.

Roadway directional signage to the Economy Garage and Cell Lot are posted on Logan’s roadways.

Hemphill noted that discount rates for Logan Express Bus parking will be available from February 16-28.

“Massport is working closely with the Airlines, State Police, and the Transportation Security Administration to make the Logan traveling experience a pleasant and safe one,” Massport Aviation Director, Freni said.

Freni encourages the traveling public to “allow themselves ample time, about 30 minutes more than normal to get to and from the airport.”  Freni also advised travelers or those picking up passengers at the airport to “check with their airlines for first heads up to flight information.”
