One of the best programs initiated besides the USO, put in place at Boston Logan Airport is the Military Family Assistance Program that provides parking and security access to gate areas for family and friends to meet and greet their loved ones returning from active duty or to see them off.

Once Massport is notified by a family or military person regarding an arrival or departure, a staff person from Operations is assigned to handle the movement.

While Massport has received calls on various phone lines requesting assistance, a hotline, [617-561-1833] has been established.

“Over the past several years Massport has assisted hundreds of people through this special airport project,” Aviation Director Ed Freni said.

“Massport has received many letters from families of those were assisted thanking everyone for the special service we provided them:, Freni said.  Freni noted that this program is a team effort between Massport, State Police, TSA and the airlines.”

“Everyone at Logan International Airport is proud of our military troops serving the country and we are also pleased to provide this kind of service to them, their families and friends”, Freni added.
